St. Thomas Huntsville Seeks New Rector
by Web Staff
St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Huntsville, AL is seeking to discern God's will in calling a new rector, and its search committee is now accepting nominations for the position.
The Rt. Rev. John McKee Sloan, who served as rector of St. Thomas for the past fourteen years, was consecrated Bishop Suffragan of Alabama in January 2008. "With this wonderful and bittersweet celebration, we began the search for a new rector to lead us in our ministry," said Polly Robb, head of the search committee.
St. Thomas is the 14th largest parish in the Diocese of Alabama, with just under 700 members. The vision of the parish is to "offer to God our very selves, each of us with different gifts, so that united in Christ, we form one body -- one that proclaims the love of God through our works and worship."
Among the characteristics the parish is seeking in its rector is a priest who recognizes that being a Christian is a joyful experience, and one who shares the passion that St. Thomas parishioners have for ministries that reach out to God's people.
Additional information about St. Thomas is available in its new parish profile released today by the search committee. The profile, answers to frequently asked questions, and a nomination form for submitting a name to the search committee are available on the St. Thomas website at: http://stthomashuntsville.org. Nominations are due by Sept. 27, 2008.
