195th Diocesan Convention - "Good News for a New Day"




195th Convention of The Episcopal Church in Alabama

We look forward to gathering for the 195th Annual Diocesan Convention, which will take place from Thursday, February 5, to Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Camp McDowell (105 Delong Rd., Nauvoo, AL).

This year, our convention is on the theme “Good News for a New Day,” taken from Lamentations 3:22-23: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”. This theme invites us to embrace God’s ever-renewing mercy and share the Good News of Christ’s love in fresh ways each day.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON CERTIFICATION AND REGISTRATION

 

  • STEPS FOR LAY DELEGATES

    All lay delegates must go through two different processes or steps:

    STEP 1. Complete the certification form as a delegate to the 195th Diocesan Convention 2026; this includes both voting delegates and alternate delegates.  Certification will be open for one month only, from November 1-November 30, 2025.  All lay delegates and alternate lay delegates must be certified by the end of November 2025.  CLICK HERE TO BEGIN CERTIFICATION PROCESS.

    STEP 2. Register your attendance for the 195th Diocesan Convention 2026. (Registration is the step in which you will reserve your room at Camp, include any dietary restrictions, and pay for your registration.)  Registration will open on December 1 and run through January 25, 2026.  A registration email will be sent out on December 1st.  Alternate lay delegates do not need to register for convention, unless they plan to attend.

    Please note that Camp McDowell cannot accommodate all registered attendees.  Camp lodging is on a first come first serve basis.  Once camp is full, attendees will be offered hotel lodging in Jasper, AL

  • STEPS FOR CLERGY, CLERGY SPOUSES, SEMINARIANS AND GUESTS

    Only one process is required for clergy, clergy spouses, Seminarians and other members of the diocese who plan to attendance in the 195th Diocesan Convention. Registration will open on December 1 and run through January 25, 2026.  A registration email will be sent out on December 1st.  Clergy, clergy spouses, seminarians and guests do NOT need to complete the certification step.

Nominations for Diocesan Office Now Open

Those wishing to participate in the life and governance of the Diocese of Alabama are welcome to nominate themselves or someone else to serve on a diocesan body. This year, nominations will be taken for the Standing Committee, Diocesan Council, and the Disciplinary Board.

Please use this form to pre-file nominations for available diocesan offices.

Nominations will also be taken from the floor at Diocesan Convention. Self-nominations are welcome. If you nominate someone else, please make sure that you have spoken to this person and that this person is willing to accept the nomination. If you wish to have a printed nomination form that you may complete and return by mail, please contact Elizabeth Blake (Bishop’s Assistant) at eblake@dioala.org or 205-358-9224. Deadline is Friday, January 30, 2026.
